Dynamic Stretches

One of my strengths has always been getting kids amped about moving. But I've learned recently that while getting hyped about exercise is great, I had been ignoring the other side of the coin... calming. A little over a year ago, I started doing calming exercises with my students at the end of class and it quickly turned into one of my favorite things.

It's a rare thing in school for a student to be asked to slow down (aside from running in the hall). Their minds are moving a mile a minute. And calming exercises have a huge effect on them.

So, I decided to start putting my own spin on the activities. Here we have some Dynamic Stretching activities that are great for warm ups and cool downs.

This one was inspired by all the moments I've tried to compete for attention with a ray of sun and the dust dancing within it. It's always been a losing battle and if you can't beat it, join it.

Stay tuned for more. And as always, these are available ad-free in the PLAY: Interactive Arcade.
